Selling Supplements on Amazon Spain

Spain's supplement market is growing steadily, driven by increasing health awareness and a young, digitally-engaged consumer base. Amazon.es is Spain's largest e-commerce platform. Regulatory barriers are lower than Italy or France — standard EU-compliant supplements with Spanish labels can generally be sold without pre-notification for most ingredients.

Spanish regulatory requirements

Spain follows EU Food Supplements Directive for vitamins and minerals with no additional pre-notification requirement for standard products. AESAN (Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency) oversees compliance. For botanicals and non-standard ingredients, AESAN guidance should be checked. Products must meet EU health claims regulation — only EU Register-approved claims are permitted.

Spanish label requirements

Labels must be in Spanish (Castilian). Products sold in Catalonia, the Basque Country, or Galicia may include the regional language but Spanish is the legal minimum. Required elements: product name, ingredient list, net quantity, allergen declarations, best before date, recommended daily dose, and the statement 'No superar la dosis diaria expresamente recomendada' (Do not exceed the recommended daily dose).

FBA Spain setup

Amazon Spain FCs are near Madrid and Barcelona. Pan-European FBA allows automatic stock placement in Spanish FCs. Spanish VAT (IVA) is 10% on food supplements — lower than the standard 21% rate — which helps margin vs other product categories. Spanish VAT registration required if storing inventory in Spain.

The Spanish Amazon supplement opportunity

Amazon.es supplement category BSRs show lower competition than Germany or UK for many niches. Key opportunity categories: joint health (articulaciones) — very strong Spanish consumer interest; digestive supplements; beauty-from-within (collagen, biotin, hyaluronic acid); sports nutrition especially protein and creatine; and immune support. Local brand competition is weaker than northern Europe.
